School

In August 1997 Don Burt and Chris Seaman put a proposal to the Centre Committee that the Centre should open a School with two aims:

  1. To offer people who are not sure that Motorsport and Hillclimbing in particular a low cost way of “giving it a try”.

  2. To enable competitors to learn the best way up the hill by improving their technique and giving them knowledge of the quickest route up the hill.

The first School was held on Sunday 22nd March 1998, the students were friends and relatives of people involved in the running of events at Harewood.  Much was learned and applied to the subsequent schools.

From that time many thousands have participated and the school is now recognised as a Centre of
Excellence that provides expert tuition and a good day out.

The following pages will show the development of the school from 1998 to today.
